Neuroscience informed mind-body recovery from chronic pain

Pain Physiotherapist, Mind-Body Coach and Nervous System Practitioner 

As a neuroscience informed holistic physiotherapist, I help people struggling with persistent pain reclaim their lives and feel good again.

Having struggled with years of pain as well as frequent anxiety and low self esteem I spent my twenties going from doctor to doctor, hoping that some scan, some treatment would finally get rid of my symptoms and fix me.


I even became a physiotherapist, hoping that alone would be my ticket to being able to heal myself!  Wrong!

 

Today I am 100% pain free.  However getting here has been a transformative, holistic journey of growth from the inside out.

I combine my advanced understanding of the neurophysiology of persistent pain with cognitive, emotional and nervous system reprogramming.  So often the reason you might not be better yet is because you haven't had the right input.  By providing the right input we affect the output (pain)!

I see you friend.  I know what it's like to be stuck in the frustrating never-ending carousel of going from medical professional to professional trying to get your symptoms to go away.   It can be a scary and confusing place to be but we can go beyond pain management.

 

Chronic pain or pain that started out of the blue is fundamentally different to acute injury.  So it cannot be treated successfully in the same way.  Even if the pain goes away temporarily, so often another symptom crops up in its place. 

​

You see the medical system, although wonderful for treating many ailments, is not designed to treat chronic pain.  It searches for the WHAT but never the WHY.  It is designed to manage or relieve and not to heal and rewire. 

​

Thankfully, the last ten to twenty years of using fMRI scans and up to date research into psychoneuroimmunology show us that chronic pain can be successfully treated.  But scientifically speaking, treatment must start from within.  Research demonstrates that all pain is an output of the brain.  But chronic pain, as well as other symptoms like anxiety are the end result of a brain and nervous system that have become conditioned into extreme protection. 

 

This is where a neuroscience informed mind-body approach can help.  The pain is the message to points us towards what needs to be healed within.  By re-programming the fear and frustration around pain, and doing the work to shift old emotional and belief driven patterns, we start to create the inner safety that you so desperately want to recover.

Working with me is a deep inside journey of physical and emotional transformation.  A life of pain does not need to be your truth.  You deserve to live a full, rich and meaningful life and my job is to guide and serve you in that journey.
